During the 7 days of the New Year on Thailand's roads, 2228 road accidents occurred.

According to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), from December 29 to January 4, 284 people lost their lives in accidents, and 2307 sustained injuries of varying severity.

Some statistical data on road accidents:

- 86.31% of accidents involved motorcycles.

- 39% of accidents were related to speeding, 23% to drunk driving, and 18% to sudden lane departure.

- 40% of accidents occurred on highways, and another 33% on rural roads.

-The highest number of accidents (82 cases) was recorded in the Kanchanaburi province.

- The highest number of fatalities (19 individuals) occurred in Bangkok.

For comparison, last year, during the period from December 29, 2022, to January 4, 2023, there were 2440 road accidents, resulting in 317 fatalities and 2437 injuries.
