During the New Year holidays, there were 1570 road accidents in Thailand.

According to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), from December 29 to January 1, 190 people died, and 1574 sustained injuries of varying severity in the accidents.

Some statistical data regarding the accidents:

- 86% of the accidents involved motorcycles.

- 38% of the accidents were related to speeding, 28% to drunk driving, and 16% to sudden lane departure.

- 39% of the accidents occurred on highways, and another 35% on rural roads.

- The highest number of accidents (57 cases) was recorded in the province of Kanchanaburi.

- The highest number of fatalities (13 people) occurred in Bangkok.

For comparison, last year, during the period from December 29, 2022, to January 4, 2023, there were 2440 road accidents, resulting in 317 fatalities and 2437 injuries.
