During the New Year holidays, there were 2083 road accidents in Thailand.

According to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), from December 29 to January 3, 256 people lost their lives in accidents, and 2106 sustained injuries of varying degrees of severity.

Some statistical data regarding road accidents:

- 86% of accidents involved motorcycles.

- 38% of accidents were related to speeding, 25% to driving under the influence, and 17% to sudden lane departures.

- 40% of accidents occurred on highways, while another 33% occurred on rural roads.

- The highest number of accidents (77 cases) was recorded in the province of Kanchanaburi.

- The highest number of fatalities (17 individuals) occurred in Bangkok.

For comparison, during the same period last year, from December 29, 2022, to January 4, 2023, there were 2440 road accidents, resulting in 317 fatalities and 2437 injuries.
