The new electricity tariff will not exceed 4.20 baht per unit after price adjustments in January 2024

The new electricity tariff will not exceed 4.20 baht per unit after price adjustments in January 2024.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Energy this morning. This comes after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) set the electricity tariff from January to April at 4.68 baht on Wednesday.

However, the ministry clarified that the 4.68 baht per unit is only the recommended rate by ERC. In practice, the Ministry of Energy will employ all available measures to maintain the electricity price below 4.20 baht per unit, aiming to alleviate the burden on household and industrial consumers.

The ministry is also working on reviewing the pricing structure for natural gas used in electricity generation, which is a primary factor contributing to the rise in electricity prices.
