The proficiency level of the English language in Thailand is one of the lowest compared to other ASEAN countries.

According to the annual Education First English Proficiency Index, Thailand ranks 101 out of 113 countries/regions where English is not a native language.

A score of less than 450 out of a possible 800 classifies as a "very low proficiency level" and is represented on the map with an orange color.

Eight ASEAN countries took the test and received the following scores:
- Singapore = 631 points / Very high proficiency level
- Philippines = 578 points / High proficiency level
- Malaysia = 568 points / High proficiency level
- Vietnam = 505 points / Moderate proficiency level
- Indonesia = 473 points / Low proficiency level
- Myanmar = 450 points / Low proficiency level
- Cambodia = 421 points / Very low proficiency level
- Thailand = 416 points / Very low proficiency level.
