Thailand has reported its first case of death due to monkeypox.

According to the Ministry of Health, the deceased was a 34-year-old Thai citizen who was already suffering from HIV and syphilis.

The man had been hospitalized for about 2 weeks and was subsequently discharged. However, his condition worsened a month later due to a high level of infection, and he passed away on the night of August 11.

As of August 8, Thailand has recorded 189 cases of monkeypox. According to the data, in the majority of cases, the disease was spread among men who have sex with other men, 43% of whom were also HIV-infected.
