Eighteen people sustained injuries of varying degrees in an accident on Rama 2 Street in Bangkok this morning.

Thai Smile Bus company stated that they conducted an inspection of the electric bus and found no issues with the electrical and braking systems.

Additionally, the company conducted an investigation into the driver and determined that he was indeed responsible for the accident. The man refuted his earlier statement claiming brake failure and confessed that he accidentally dozed off while driving, mistakenly pressing the accelerator instead of the brake.

The bus driver has been dismissed from his position.

As a result of the incident, traffic came to a halt for several kilometers. The injured were transported to four different hospitals for treatment.

Thai Smile Bus company confirmed that they will cover the medical expenses for the injured individuals and provide them with compensation.
