A malfunction at Phuket Airport caused delays for dozens of flights.

The reason for the delay was a crack on the runway.

The damage to the runway was discovered yesterday at 12:34, which led the airport to halt flights for safety reasons.

Part of the flights were redirected to other airports in Thailand, and some flights were forced to return to the departure zone.
Temporary repair of the runway was completed within two hours, but it's currently not possible to close it for full repairs.
The airport administration informs that they have a plan for major runway repair, which is currently in the processing stage. However, its long-term closure is not feasible due to the high number of flights.
