Initially, the driver got the hotel address wrong and took the tourist to the wrong place. Later, he drove him to the correct destination, but the fare had increased.

Upon arriving at the hotel, the tuk-tuk driver quoted a fare of 400 baht for the trip, but the tourist believed it was inflated and paid him only 300 baht. The driver then asked two other tuk-tuk drivers to join the 'negotiations' with the tourist, which escalated into an argument. During the argument, the tourist took the keys to the tuk-tuk. In response, the three drivers attacked the tourist and began assaulting him.
